Our latest Duke of Edinburgh Trips
Twenty-three Year 10 students walked from Dulverton to Exford to Porlock to Dunster Beach over three days. The students dealt with the demands of the expedition and the weather representing the school very well. Thank you to Mrs West who drove half of the group to the start at Dulverton and to Mr Owen and Mr Tracey who worked hard throughout the three days keeping the groups on track, together and focused.
Fifty-nine Year 9 students walked from Wheddon across to Porlock, then on to Dunster over two days. This group also walked through hot weather and dealt very well with their first assessment expedition. A big thank you to Mrs West who again helped drive students to the start. Students were supported and encouraged through their weekend by Mr Owen, Mr Tracey, Mrs Stamp, Miss Knott, Mrs Whitlock, Hannah Bremner, Mr Hellyer and Mr Darby. A massive thank you to these members of staff who enabled our Year 9 Bronze DofE students to have an amazing weekend, they were a credit to the school and represented themselves very well.
We even had some fantastic feedback from another campsite user who made the time to get in touch with the school to share the following:
I just wanted to take the time to email to say what a pleasure it was to share a campsite with some of your students at the weekend who were camping at the same campsite as us for their D of E expedition. As an Assistant Headteacher at a school in Worcestershire I was really impressed with their conduct and attitude, they were an absolute credit to your staff and school. We were enjoying a family weekend of camping and they were courteous, polite and good humoured despite the heat (and we didn't hear anything from them once dusk arrived - they were probably exhausted!) It is such a worthwhile activity for young people but takes such a lot of time and organisation so just wanted to pass on how impressed we were.
We are very proud of our students!
Have a look at our D of E gallery for all of our photos!
