Queen's College Model United Nations competition
On Saturday, Haygrove's Debating Society took a formidable team of 15 debaters including ten-year 10s and 5 Year 9 students to compete in the Queen's College Model United Nations competition. Our students were split into 3 teams of 5 representing Canada, Senegal and Sweden. Our students took part in debates on a variety of issues including deforestation, the ongoing humanitarian crisis in South Sudan, the issue of migration, how to protect refugees and a complicated crisis scenario involving the use of a nuclear weapon on Malaysia.
All of our students represented the school fantastically well and contributed to the debates on a variety of issues including leading the debate on the issue of food insecurity within the General Assembly in front of all 300 delegates. We sadly missed out on the awards, but we are very proud of all of our students for competing against over 300 others from a variety of schools including lots of sixth formers and college students.
Well done to everyone involved!
